Consensual sex is good for your health, some of the benefits you might not have thought of:
- Releases chemicals that help us feel happy
- Strengthens the immune system
- Good for the heart/mild cardiovascular exercise
- Can relieve physical and emotional tension
Could you have a sexually transmitted infection (STI)?
If you’ve had unprotected sex (without using a condom) there is a chance you could have caught an STI. If you have any of the following, arrange to get tested:
- You have symptoms (such as unusual discharge)
- You have the feeling that something is wrong
- You haven’t got any symptoms but you are worried that you might have an STI.
Testing for an STI is often just a urine or blood sample and can be easily treated with antibiotics.
